IAAPA launches Executive Management Institute

The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) has teamed up with San Diego State University (SDSU) to develop a one-off training program for visitor attraction executives.

Delivered by the SDSU's L. Robert Payne School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, The IAAPA Institute for Executive Education (IEE) will take place between 30th January and 4th February 2011.

The new program is designed specifically for owners, executives, and senior-level leaders in the attractions industry and will use San Diego-area attractions as classroom settings.

Participants will help analyze and develop solutions to industry-specific challenges and coursework will be led by university faculty and leading experts from attractions.

The Institute will also give participants the opportunity to network with attractions professionals from around the world.

IEE is designed to enhance and develop critical skills essential for executive leadership and will cover financial metrics, strategic thinking, and the key components of successful execution.

IAAPA hopes that the programme will help participants in leadership positions refine their skills and further their careers.

Introducing the program, IAAPA Chair Chip Cleary, Senior Vice President of Palace Entertainment/Parques Reunidos, explained âthis is exactly the type of executive education program our industry needs.

"It will provide the appropriate academic experience in the specific context of our industry. I'm confident those who participate will get a great deal out of the Institute and contribute at a higher level to their organization when they get back home."

Enrolment is limited to 30 people, and space will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
