Hutt City Council presents three months of activities
Hutt City Council is marking the warmer weather with three months of summertime activities and events for its ‘Summer in the Hutt’ campaign.
From January until the end of March, Summer in the Hutt encourages Hutt City locals to head outdoors, be active and make the most of the region’s great swimming spots, parks and cycle trails.
Each month has a designated theme. This month is all about water fun, February is bike month and March is dedicated to exploring our region’s parks.
Hutt City Council Recreation Programmer Events and Outdoors Jaimee Lampard says the campaign is “jam-packed” with summertime activities, many of which are free.
Lampard explained “we’ve got disc golf lessons, a teddy bears picnic, dancing in the park, beach activities at Days Bay, group walks with Kev the Kiwi, poolside story time, cycle skills courses as well as popular events like Bike the Trail.
“By linking in with existing community events and organisations, we’ve ensured there’s something on nearly every day throughout summer for people to enjoy.
“Most of the activities involve walking, cycling or other exercise, so taking part is an easy way to improve physical health, all while enjoying the outdoors.”
The Council is inviting participants of their Summer in the Hutt moments by entering a photo competition on Hutt City Council’s Facebook page.
Prizes will be awarded each month for the photo that best captures the month’s theme.
