Hume Council launches QR codes at playgrounds for residents to report issues
While QR codes were deployed by Councils across Australia during the Covid pandemic to assist in contact tracing, Victoria’s Hume Council – in an Australian first for Local Government - is introducing QR codes at playgrounds for maintenance reporting.
With 60 new QR codes installed at playgrounds across Hume, these QR codes provide an easier way for residents to report issues directly to Council.
To report an issue, residents can scan the QR code on their phone and the application will automatically walk them through the prompts.
Hume Mayor Naim Kurt notes “this new feature at our playgrounds will make it quick and easy for families to report an issue while they're on the go without the need for a phone, call or email.
“I am proud that we are leading the way in providing new and improved opportunities for our residents to contact us about issues in their area."
“We know playground amenity and child safety is really important to our community. With the help of these new QR codes, we can continue to ensure they remain clean and fun for years to come.”
QR codes were introduced by numerous Councils across Australia during Covid as an additional proactive step to assist in keeping the community safe.
The introduction of QR code check-ins at Council playgrounds and exercise areas was to send the message that when utilising these facilities users need to do so as safely as possible and to adhere to the health guidelines provided to the community.
