Human measurement technology leader launches SAGA Fitness brand

VALD - the Australian human measurement technology company that provides powerful and objective data to elite sports teams, defence departments and allied health organisations - has launched SAGA Fitness, a brand that is making world-class smart technology movement tools accessible for all.

Seeing an opportunity to bring scientifically engineered and tested products into the consumer market, VALD’s creation of SAGA Fitness will see it promote the concept of blood flow restriction (BFR) training which involves low-intensity exercise while users wear constrictive bands designed to reduce the amount of oxygen supplied to muscles.

While CrossFit and professional athletes have been benefiting from BFR training for some time, its benefits of accelerated gains and maximal results, achieved with less recovery is new to the mass market, mainly due to past difficulties in the use of products.

Products previously available to implement BFR training were completely non-user friendly, involving the application of bulky or wired BFR bands which took a lot of manual labour to inflate. Users also had to largely guess how much pressure should be applied and how much time should be spent using the bands.

However, the BFR Cuffs now available from SAGA Fitness solve these problems by being completely wireless while featuring personalised calibration and auto-inflation.

They are also equipped with Bluetooth connectivity and are controlled via the SAGA fitness app which includes training tips and video demonstrations for a variety of fitness goals.

As more technologies continue to proliferate the market and people’s demand for data increases, SAGA Fitness General Manager, Erin Kearney explained “named after Sága, the Norse goddess of wisdom, SAGA Fitness is set to empower gym-goers of all levels to get more out of their workouts.

“Designed to enable users to take a ‘work smarter’ approach when it comes to lifting weights, The BFR Cuffs will have you smashing your strength and aesthetic goals while using lighter weights and ultimately, spending less hours in the gym.”

VALD's client list of major sporting teams, brands and universities includes sport performance brand Altis; Australia's Melbourne Demons and Brisbane Lions; the New Orleans Pelicans, Stanford University, Duke University, Chicago Cubs, Houston Dynamo and Houston Rockets in the USA; Czech football club AC Sparta; and the England National Football Team and English Premier League clubs Arsenal and Aston Villa.
