History making month at Cairns Convention Centre
The team at the Cairns Convention Centre are celebrating following the success of their biggest month since opening in 1996.
May 2014 was not only a record month but also saw the Centre host what has been labelled the best Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) in its 35 year history.
During May the Centre also hosted the Australia Papua New Guinea Business Forum, the Danks National Trade Conference and Exhibition and the 16th International Symposium on Fish Nutrition and Feeding (ISFNF) among other events. These combined events brought 3,400 delegates to Cairns providing an economic benefit of more than $18.5 million for the month to the region.
The Cairns Convention Centre’s reputation of delivering successful events with friendly tropical hospitality was further enhanced during this record month withTourism and Events Queensland Chief Executive Leanne Coddington stating “the feedback from our team here at Tourism and Events Queensland was that Cairns Convention Centre over delivered on every aspect of the event through the planning process of ATE as well as during the event days.”
Cairns Convention Centre General Manager Ross Steele explained “it is heartening to receive such positive feedback from our clients in what was the busiest month for the Centre since opening.
“Doubling the footprint of our existing building for ATE and providing extended services to temporary structures was a first and I am delighted our team embraced these challenges with enthusiastic professionalism for the success of our clients.”
The Cairns Convention Centre is owned by the Queensland Government initiative and operated by AEG Ogden.
