Gymnastics Australia joins National Sport Inclusion Alliance

Gymnastics Australia is the most recent National Sport Organisation (NSO) to officially sign up to the National Sport Inclusion Alliance (NSIA).

Established by the Australian Sport and Recreation Association for Persons with Integration Difficulties (AUSRAPID), NSIA provides a coordinated and cohesive platform to enable NSIA member organisations to increase capacity for inclusion in sport of people who have an intellectual disability.

Robyn Tribe, Gymnastics Australia’s (GA) National Participation Manager attended the recent NSIA network forum to share some valuable information about the GA’s Club 10 Quality Assurance program, online resources and marketing portal, and highly effective National Inclusion Working Group.

Explaining the recent Membership Agreement, Gymnastics Australia Chief Executive Mark Rendell stated “Gymnastics Australia is proud to be associated with the NSIA and their aims to promote and enable the inclusion of people who have an intellectual disability in community sport and recreation at local, state, national and international level.

“Gymnastics is a sport that people of all ages, skills and abilities can participate in, offering a variety of gymsports designed to suit a range of individuals. We look forward to working with the NSIA to continue to promote the inclusion of all people in sport so that they can enjoy the benefits of being healthy and active.”

The Alliance's nine current NSO members are:

• Tenpin Bowling Australia
• Table Tennis Australia
• Swimming Australia
• Softball Australia
• Bowls Australia
• Badminton Australia
• Tennis Australia
• Golf Australia
• Gymnastics Australia

Members of the NSIA are required to identify targeted and personalised ‘goals for inclusion’. Here are the goals that have been determined by Gymnastics Australia.
