GSCORE awarded Western Australia’s Outstanding Outdoor Organisation for 2020

The Great Southern Centre for Outdoor Recreation Excellence (GSCORE) has been awarded the title of Western Australia’s Outstanding Outdoor Organisation for 2020 at the recent Western Australian Outdoor Recreation Sector Awards.

The Western Australian Outdoor Recreation Sector Awards acknowledge outstanding providers and individuals in the outdoor sector in the State.

GSCORE Executive Director Dr Lenore Lyons says the group are thrilled by the award and hopes to use it to bring more attention to the sector.

Dr Lyons notes “Congratulations go to the hard-working team at GSCORE and also all the people we’ve worked with over the last year. It’s testament to everyone’s enthusiasm and dedication to improving access to trails and outdoor activities which helped us win this award.

“We look forward to another excellent year working with our community partners to encourage more Western Australians to get active outdoors. Bushwalking, mountain biking, paddling and horse riding are amongst a range of activities that improve our mental and physical health. We want to see more Great Southern residents and visitors enjoying our region’s trails and national parks.”

GSCORE is a not-for-profit regional peak body established in 2017 to support the growth and development of outdoor recreation in the Great Southern. It is creating a vibrant and sustainable outdoor recreation sector through the provision of training, business support, project management and strategic planning services. GSCORE also runs a range of popular community recreation programs for children and adults.

Enhancing professionalism and skills in the outdoor recreation sector, GSCORE promotes healthy communities and is a driver of economic growth.
