Griffith City library to undergo refurbishment

Funding from the State Library of NSW will allow Griffith City Library to proceed with refurbishments - to commence towards the end of the year.

The library received a Library Infrastructure grant of $428,050 to enhance the overall experience for residents. Griffith City Council is contributing approximately $200,000 towards this revamp.

The improvements will include new furniture, flexible seating, mobile shelving, a new service area and rearranged spaces to maximise access for the community.

Griffith Mayor Doug Curran welcomed the funding and shared "we are immensely grateful to the State Library of NSW for their support.

"The injection of these funds into our library will help enhance this space so that community members can continue to enjoy the many services being delivered."

Acting Library Manager Chris Robson advised "Library patrons may notice a few things being moved around in the coming months in preparation for the work.

"The end result is to make our library even more welcoming and user-friendly."

Griffith was one of 21 councils to receive grants for projects to extend and improve public library buildings, spaces and information technology.

The Griffith City Library has over 113,000 items available to loan. These range from books and magazines to board games, cake tins, puppets and even ukuleles.

A wide range of regular events are held for both children and adults, making the library a facility the whole community can enjoy.
