Green solutions at Balga Leisurepark
The City of Stirling's quest to become more sustainable has seen the installation of a new commercial solar pool heating system at its Balga Leisurepark.
Installed in the last quarter of 2012 to heat each of the Leisurepark's three swimming pools, the solar heating system has reduced the amount of gas within the facility and its overall CO2 emissions - thus assisting in the reduction of the facility's carbon footprint.
With Supreme Heating solar matting panels installed on the roof, the annual running costs of Balga Leisurepark's current gas boiler heating system is expected to dramatically reduce from $120,000 a year to approximately $60,000 - a huge 50% reduction in the cost of annual gas utilities based on current gas prices.
Supreme Heating Western Australian Distributor Craig Doncon explains "the installation of the commercial Heatseeker material assists the centre in being sustainable."
The Balga Leisurepark offers a range of swimming and fitness facilities and programs, including competitions, as well as functions and venue hire, crèche, cafe, retail shop and other services.
Australian-owned Supreme Heating has successfully designed and installed commercial pool heating systems across Australia since 1990 for councils, universities, schools and private operators.
