Greater Shepparton Council advises of opening of rural outdoor pools

Anticipating a busy summer, Greater Shepparton City Council has announced that the Greater Shepparton Rural Outdoor Pool Season for 2021/22 will see the opening of the Tatura, Mooroopna and Merrigum pools scheduled as of 1pm on Saturday 20th November.

Advising that staff have been working hard over the winter months to prepare the pools for a busy summer, ensuring they are a great place to cool down and have fun, Greater Shepparton City Council Manager - Active Living, David Booth stated “all the pools are looking fantastic and we anticipate a big outdoor pool season following the easing of restrictions.”

“Major capital works to the filtration and circulation system at Merrigum have been completed, while works continue at the Tatura pool and the opening of this facility may vary subject to the completion of those works.”

The summer season will see a wide range of programs and activities on offer, with Booth commenting “there will be plenty happening over summer, with new giant inflatables recently delivered and a variety of water games planned. Our popular aqua aerobics and early morning swimming are also returning and I can’t forget to mention our affordable, family friendly seasonal pool membership passes which can be used at all three pools.”

The pools will remain open until the second weekend in March next year, with the final day of the Rural Outdoor Pool Season set for Monday 14th March 2022.

Council advises residents to contact their local pool for opening times and be aware that these could change, depending on weather conditions.

Extended operating hours will come into play from Thursday 23th December 2021 while on any day where the weather is above 40 degrees, the Council will endeavour to keep the pools open longer.

On days where the temperature is 24 degrees or below, the pools will not open.
