'Great Improvements' for Genesis Energy Recreation Centre

The past year has been an outstanding one for the team at the Genesis Energy Recreation Centre in Masterton, with managers CLM reporting that "great improvements" have been made in all areas.

Developments at the centre include:

• Growing numbers of swim school participants - attributed to the high level of instructors in the water and the effective programming and use of water space within the facility;
• Increasing users numbers in the fitness centre - also attributed to the range of programmes and group fitness classes available and the qualified, friendly and professional staff;
• An increase in numbers using the aquatic and stadium areas of the facility.

CLM also report that the Centre's Wave Raves, run regularly for the youth of the community, also attracts growing numbers each week. In addition, the ChillOut Afterschool and Holiday care within the Centre is increasing in popularity. The service includes an option where children are collected from school and provided with afternoon tea, while activities and homework support are also given.

Genesis Energy Recreation Centre caters for over 200,000 users a year, and high quality customer service if given to each member who walks through the doors. The team is led by a local; Kieran Te Whare who has a close working relationship with the Masterton District Council and provides excellent leadership skills for the team and creates an environment where the staff can continue to grow and develop themselves.

As a result of these great improvements the facility recently was recently named CLM's 'Most Improved Facility' for the 2010/2011 year.
