Grant Mizens appointed as new President of Paralympics Australia

The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) has welcomed the appointment of Grant Mizens as the new President of Paralympics Australia, while congratulating outgoing President Alison Creagh AM CSC for her contribution to Australian sport.

Mizens, a three-time Paralympian, brings a wealth of experience to the role and joins at an exciting time as Australian sport prepares for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Paralympic Games as well as the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

ASC Chief Executive Kieren Perkins noted “On behalf of the ASC, I would like to thank Alison for her leadership and contribution to Australian sport, particularly in her advocacy for equal levels of opportunity for Para athletes.

“Alison has played a key role in the implementation of Australia’s High Performance 2032+ Sport Win Well Strategy, which lay the groundwork to secure historic funding from the Australian Government and create the nation-wide Para Uplift.

“In just six months, the Para Uplift has gained significant momentum in removing the barriers our Para athletes face. Five Para Sport Units have been established across the country in the past six months, while great inroads have been made in addressing better classification opportunities and providing athletes better access to specialised coaching and performance support.

“I look forward to continuing this important work with Grant and Paralympics Australia CEO Cam Murray to ensure sustainable success in the lead up to the Brisbane 2032 Paralympic Games and beyond.”
