Goulburn’s drive-in cinema event returns in a COVIDSafe format
Goulburn’s Pictures and Popcorn event returns in a COVIDSafe format with the pop-up, drive-in cinema adaptation of the family favourite featuring four movies over two nights (Friday 27th and Saturday 28th November 2020).
After a challenging year for the events sector, Goulburn Mulwaree Council’s Mayor, Bob Kirk, is excited to see events returning to the social calendar and giving the community something to look forward to.
Mayor Kirk advises “Council didn’t want the community to miss out on one of the region’s favourite events due to COVID restrictions, so Council’s Marketing and Events Team have worked really hard to reformat Pictures and Popcorn to be a COVID-safe event.”
“This will be the only Pictures and Popcorn event for this financial year so we really want to make it a special one. We have hired a pop-up Outdoor LED Screen which allows us to start the event earlier and fit in two movies each night.”
Council’s Events Officer, Angela Remington adds “unfortunately we will have to forgo a few of our regular activities such as the Kids Zone however many of the favourites will return, including a live DJ, pizza on Friday night, a BBQ on Saturday night, as well as choc tops, coffee and the all-important Candy Bar. These will all be managed appropriately under our COVID-safety plan.”
The drive-in version of the event won’t be the standard free-entry arrangement. Higher costs involved in staging the event, in particular the larger LED screen and aligning with COVID-Safety guidelines means there is a fee for the limited number of tickets to cover some of the additional costs.
