Gold’s Gym Toowoomba puts fun back into fitness
Gold’s Gym Toowoomba is changing the perspective of fitness and fun as they prepare for a new challenge full of social, community-style activities.
General Manager Shannon Fagan said the gym had 100 participants take part in their last challenge which was bursting with a variety of activities outside of the gym.
Fagan shared “the goal is to promote ‘fit is fun’ so we included a military style workout at the showgrounds, a Gold Coast beach trip with fitness activities, a trip to an inflatable world, and an outdoor sports carnival with a soccer and football evening - just to name a few.”
Fagan said the winners are chosen through a range of categories to give all ages and abilities a shot at getting the most out of the challenge and added “we really reiterate that it’s not a weight loss challenge, it’s a personal transformation challenge as everyone’s goals are different when it comes to losing weight, gaining muscle etc.
“Our challenges are a chance for newbies to get excited about starting their fitness journey and an opportunity for seasoned trainers to shake up their regular routines or find a new style of training.
“Another purpose of the challenge is to teach and educate the participants so they can adapt new skills into their lifestyle and use the things they’ve learnt long-term.”
Overall winner of the last challenge, Andrew Baird (pictured above), said as well as winning the major prize which was a trip for two to Hawaii, he finished with a whole lot more.
“I hadn’t actually been inside a gym for five years and my diet was fairly poor. By the end of the 8 weeks I had lost over 10 kilos of body fat, gained 6 kilos of muscle, my diet is back on track and I’ve got a great daily routine again.
“I’ve met so many new people through the challenge who I still train with and catch up with to this day. It really was a great opportunity to change my life for the better,” Baird said.
The next 8-week challenge starts on Monday, 30th January. If you’d like to know more information, Gold’s Gym Toowoomba is hosting an information evening at 13 Princess St, Newtown at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, 25th January.
