Gold Coast's Golden Door Health Retreat to get Biggest Loser makeover
The Golden Door Health Retreat on Queenslands Gold Coast is to be rebranded as The Biggest Loser Retreat from July 2013 making the resort Australia's first-ever dedicated weight-loss retreat.
Following in the footsteps of The Biggest Loser Resorts in the USA, Golden Door Health Retreat's parent company, Cypress Lakes Group has teamed up with Shine Australia, producers of The Biggest Loser, to offer guests weight-loss and wellness programs
Guests will be offered tailored programs to help achieve lasting body fat loss as well as partake in daily activities from bush walking, to gym sessions, aqua cardio, obstacle courses and interval training.
In addition, guests will also have the opportunity to partake in cooking demonstrations and hands-on sessions to learn the importance of healthy eating.
The Biggest Loser Retreat official doctor and expert in nutrition Cris Beer said the program will assist in "changing society's ingrained attitudes" towards weight loss at a time "when obesity is a national epidemic.
"We are passionate about helping everyday Australians to turn their lives around; this is a life-changing experience that should be considered as a first-step before pursuing irreversible surgery or embarking on an unhealthy eating regime."
A Cypress Lakes Group spokesperson added "the Retreat will provide a compassionate yet firm environment for guests wanting - or in many cases, needing - to begin a health and wellness overhaul."
The Golden Door Health Retreat Elysia in the Hunter Valley will remain as a health retreat and will not undergo a rebrand.
