Gold Coast Seaway promenade enhances destination for locals and tourists
A new 700 metre promenade along the south wall of the Gold Coast Seaway at The Spit is now open, offering unobstructed views south along the city’s coastline, north to the scenic beaches of South Stradbroke Island and along the Seaway to the hinterland.
Gold Coast Waterway Authority Chief Executive Hal Morris said the opening of the Seaway Promenade had been keenly awaited and the walkway was set to become one of The Spit’s top attractions.
Queensland Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development Steven Miles notes “it enhances a much-loved destination for locals and visitors to continue enjoying at The Spit. The very end of the walkway has a great view of the Gold Coast coastline and I’m sure will become one of the most popular places for a selfie on the coast.
Member for Gaven Meaghan Scanlon said The Spit was a destination for locals and tourists and adds “whether it’s walking your dog, going for a swim or having a family bbq, The Spit has something for everyone.
“The next phase of government investment includes a rainforest restoration project at Federation Walk, improvements to Muriel Henchman Park and new facilities at the top of Marine Stadium.”
