Glenbrook Swim Centre gets winter makeover

Blue Mountains City Council's upgrade of the Glenbrook Swim Centre is currently in full swing to improve the facilities for the lower mountains community in time for summer.
Blue Mountains Mayor Daniel Myles recently launched a promotional YouTube video that provides the community and pool users with detailed information on the upgrade and its benefits.
Councillor Daniel Myles explained "the Glenbrook Swim Centre upgrade is a significant commitment by the Council to improving recreational facilities for our community."
The $1 million Capital Works Program will renew the pipe work and filtration system at the popular Glenbrook Swim Centre, Mayor Myles adding "the new filtration plant will improve water quality and clarity and the new heating system will maintain the water temperature at a comfortable 27degrees.
"Another important part of the upgrade is the installation of a permanent cover over the Program pool. This part of the upgrade will be completed before the 2013 winter season and will provide a warm indoor environment which means access to Learn to Swim lessons all year round."
The Centre will also boast new childrens interactive water features in the Toddler pool. Four user-activated water cannons and a spray hose will be located in the smallest pool to increase the appeal and provide more fun for younger pool users.
The Glenbrook Swim Centre will reopen early October with a free community open day Saturday 6th October 2012.
