Futsal Institute aims to develop five-a-side football in Western Sydney
A new standalone multi-court centre for indoor five-a-side football (Futsal) has opened at Wetherill Park in Western Sydney.
Offering four indoor Futsal courts (including a international standard court, two standard courts and a netted junior court along with a grandstand and general seating courtside), the Futsal Institute has been created to cater for all levels and ages of Futsal players, but with a particular emphasis on skill development to create skilful and successful players.
Backed by a group of investors including Sydney FC star Nicky Carle (who played Futsal in his youth), the Futsal Institute meets a dream of establishing a facility that will allow Futsal to develop in Australia.
The Futsal Institute's website explains "we are striving to create a Futsal Institute that will offer children, women and men a Futsal home that will support individual and team development and improve the status of this amazing game for all involved."
The Futsal Institute also aims to involve children and families of lower socio-economic standing.
Housed in a former industrial builiding, the facility offers a cafe, a sports shop with quality sports clothing and equipment and has links with physiotherapists and personal trainers.
