Funfields amusement park to install new four person raft ride
Victorian amusement park Funfields is to develop a four person raft ride that will be open for the summer 2017/18 season.
Park owner John Verga told local newspaper the Whittlesea Leader that the attraction would be installing a TornadoWAVE™ ride from ProSlide in addition to its existing waterslides including the Typhoon, Splashdown, Blackout, Wipeout and Kraken Racer.
Verga and his two business partners chose the ride after assessing top waterslide designs, with Verga stating “the boys first rode it in Hong Kong and then went up to Wet’n’Wild in Sydney.
“We spoke to a lot of kids and adults alike who were coming off the slide and they absolutely loved it.
“We were tossing up between two slides and we decided to go with this one.”
Having opened the Kraken Racer for the last summer season, Verga said the park was also undergoing a number of refurbishments for the upcoming summer season
He expalined “what we’re doing this year is adding another water play area adjacent to the current play area which will be just for the toddlers.”
The Formula Fun mini go-kart track has been demolished and will be replaced with a new track and new theme.
Verga added “the track will be double the size and we’ve purchased another 10 new little baby go carts for the little ones.
“At the big go-kart track we’re actually in the process of getting shipped another 10 double go-karts which are quite different, they’re more like a normal go-kart design wise.”
Verga went on to explain “a fair bit of this year’s off-season is about our customers and their comfort.
“There is a lot of change going on at the moment (and) after next year we’ll be adding quite possibly another hard ride ... it’ll be extremely exciting.”
