Funding helps to promote sport participation in Western Australia

A dedicated tenpin bowling program for people with a disability and a program linking vulnerable young women to junior cricket clubs are among 18 initiatives funding under the Western Australian Government's Targeted Participation Program (TPP).

TPP funding provides funding to enable organisations to promote participation and engagement in sport and active recreation, particularly among low participation groups in Western Australia.

The program supports a diverse range of projects targeting Aboriginal participants, teenage girls, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disability, seniors, and disengaged youth.

12 regional and six metropolitan organisations will share in nearly $370,000 under the current grant round.

The TPP is a joint initiative between the Western Australian Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Healthway.

Commenting on the funding, Western Australian Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray advised "the TPP promotes healthy lifestyles, community engagement, and importantly creates pathways into sport and recreation for those who ordinarily do not get involved in sport. Well done to all of the grant recipients."
