Funding boost for Southern Cross Aquatic Centre
The Southern Cross Aquatic Centre is set for a funding boost under the latest round of the Western Australian Government’s Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund.
The Shire of Yilgarn has received $700,000 for the refurbished amenities at the facility, located 370 kilometres east of Perth.
Agricultural Region MLCs Darren West and Laurie Graham welcomed the funding announcement.
West told local newspaper The Avon Valley Advocate that he was proud to be part of delivering important local sporting infrastructure to the community.
He advised “this project is an important resource for the local community, and this grant will help ensure a strong future going forward.”
Graham said that the funding for will ensure residents in the local community will keep healthy and engaged in local water activities, adding “the CSRFF not only boosts local sport, project construction creates jobs for local small businesses and tradesmen in a range of industries."
The fund has two rounds of small grants each year that open in February and July, and one larger grant round that opens in June.
