Frontier Touring offers full ticket refunds for cancelled Tenacious D dates
Frontier Touring is offering refunds for all those holding tickets for upcoming Tenacious D performances as a result of the band cancelling their Australian and New Zealand tour following an outcry over an on-stage joke about the attempted assassination of former US President Donald Trump.
With band member Kyle Gass's divisive joke at a Sydney concert on Sunday night about the attempted assassination hitting international headlines over recent days, Frontier Touring confirmed today that shows in Newcastle, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Wellington and Auckland were cancelled.
Frontier advised that full refunds for the comedy rock duo Tenacious D will be offered to ticket holders, advising “Frontier Touring regret to advise that the remaining dates of Tenacious D’s tour of Australia and New Zealand have been cancelled.
“Ticket holders who purchased tickets via authorised ticketing outlets will receive a full refund. A communication to all ticket holders will be sent today with more information.”
Gass bandmate, comedy actor Jack Black, issued a statement on Tuesday saying he has decided to put all creative plans on hold after Gass’ comment.
Gass also issued his own statement, writing “the line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake.
“I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone.
“What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgment. I profoundly apologise to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused.”
