Forum to examine future needs in New Zealand parks management

The New Zealand Recreation Association (NZRA) is convening a Forum for park agencies to examine the current and future needs of the New Zealand parks and open spaces industry.

The vision for this forum is that it will be the driver of a comprehensive New Zealand Parks Strategy, enabling agencies and individuals to be world leaders in innovative parks planning and delivery.

This Forum, being held in Auckland on Friday 30th January 2014, is aimed at senior management and parks agency level, with invitations extended to senior management representatives from local and regional councils, the Department of Conservation and private park organisations.

The Forum will be independently facilitated by Fay Freeman O.N.Z.M of Freeman Associates. It will focus on what the parks industry needs from a representative industry organisation at agency level, and what the priorities are for the future of the industry.

Discussion will also include the focus of NZRA and the International Federation of Parks and Recreation Administration (IFPRA), as well as services previously delivered by Parks Forum.

The Forum follows the Parks Forum, of which many New Zealand park agencies were members, ceasing operations last year.
