FitnessNZ relaunches as the Exercise Association of New Zealand
Peak New Zealand fitness industry body FitnessNZ has launched a new identity, rebranding itself as the Exercise Association of New Zealand (ExerciseNZ).
The non profit representative organisation, operating under an incorporated society structure, has the principal objective of getting more New Zealanders physically active at exercise facilities in New Zealand.
ExerciseNZ's members come from organisations across the health/fitness/exercise industry in New Zealand, with the majority being organisations that operate fitness/exercise facilities (such as fitness centres and health clubs).
ExerciseNZ's members are wide and diverse, and include commercial operators (such as Les Mills and Contours along with hundreds of single site independent operators), non profit organisations (such as the YMCA) and local government/council facilities.
ExerciseNZ has over 250 members, which represents approximately 85% of the industry.
The name change was launched at last weekend's FitEx, the Science & Business of Fitness & Exercise, conference in Auckland.
Respected industry leader Richard Beddie remains as Chief Executive of the organisation.
