Fitlink expands internationally with Kashmir institute

Brisbane-based fitness educator Fitlink has expanded internationally with the launch of the Fitlink Fitness Institute in the Indian region of Kashmir.

Inaugurated at the weekend in the Kashmiri capital of Srinagar, the Institute offers a range of training and education opportunities for local gym instructors, coaches, personal trainers, sport professionals and physiotherapists looking for a recognised institution for their certification in gym instruction and personal training.

Speaking at an opening event, Srinagar Deputy Commissioner Farooq Ahmad Shah said the establishment of the Insititute was to be encouraged for the availability of better fitness infrastructure in the city.

He stated “we are opening around 10 health clubs for them we need qualified, certified coaches and trainers. People, especially youth, are becoming more and more health conscious because of which the demand for certified fitness professionals has increased.

“Our duty is to create a healthy Srinagar in all respects.”

Fitlink Jammu and Kashmir Director Hilal Ahmad Rather added “in Jammu & Kashmir we have only academic education and physical education but when it comes to health, fitness, exercises, there is no fitness education.

“Fitlink delivers fitness education and training to gym trainers and coaches.

“(The) fitness industry is going to bloom in the coming years and as there is lack of skilled manpower, therefore there will be huge demand for qualified professionals.  So it is imperative that fitness professionals should get qualified from internationally recognised institution like Fitlink.”

Since 1985, Fitlink has qualified more than 30,000 fitness professionals in its near-30 year history.
