Event organisers in the Riverina Murray encouraged to apply for latest round of tourism funding
Organisers of new and second-year events held between July and December 2018 are being encouraged to apply for the NSW Government’s 2018 Incubator Event Fund, which supports events throughout NSW.
Sophie Walsh, co-founder of Wagga Wagga-based White Top Venues, is well aware of the costs associated with hosting and organising events and says the funding news comes as a welcome boon. She explains “kicking off any event comes with considerable financial commitment, which can often seem like an insurmountable barrier for many. My advice, if you have any new and existing smaller-scale events coming up, get on board.”
Destination Riverina Murray NSW General Manager, Richie Robinson says the Fund offers a one-off grant of up to $20,000 to assist with activities such as marketing, public relations, venue hire and attendee research.
Robinson advises “it’s exciting when you think of the incredible entrepreneurs and smaller operators located throughout the region who may be able to take advantage of such a worthwhile initiative. From food and wine events to music and sporting festivals, we know rural and regional events play an important role in growing our local economy, and I encourage event organisers to apply for a grant and see where it takes you.”
Applications for round two of the 2018 Incubator Event Fund are open until Sunday 18th March 2018.
To lodge an application and to view the criteria visit go to www.destinationnsw.com.au/rfep.
Potential applicants can contact Destination Riverina Murray for advice and support at info@destinationrm.com.au.
The Regional Flagship Events Program is managed and administered through the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
