EVANZ backs Tourism Sustainability Commitment
The Entertainment Venues Association of New Zealand (EVANZ) has announced that it has signed up to New Zealand’s Tourism Sustainability Commitment and that, as one of its sustainability initiatives, the Association will be moving away from printed certificates and member stickers.
A statement from EVANZ advises “we are proud to introduce our new digital membership logos which are available for EVANZ venue and associate members to download from the members area of our website.”
The Tourism Sustainability Commitment aims to ensure economic, environmental and social sustainability becomes a genuine underpinning of our industry. It was developed by the tourism industry for the tourism industry, and establishes eitgh industry-level sustainable Goals and 14 Commitments that individual businesses can achieve to help the industry reach the Goals.
New Zealand’s $39 billion tourism industry became slightly more sustainable in 2018 compared to the previous year, according to a Performance Dashboard produced by Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA).
Based on existing data and a survey of tourism businesses carried out for TIA by Angus & Associates, the dashboard measures the industry’s first year of performance since the launch of the Tourism Sustainability Commitment (TSC) in November 2017.
