EVANZ announces inaugural New Zealand venue industry awards

The Entertainment Venues Association of New Zealand (EVANZ) has launched its inaugural EVANZ Venue Awards aiming to recognise and reward the success of venues and the contribution of individuals in the New Zealand venues industry.

Introducing the awards, EVANZ President Craig Goodall explains "New Zealand's venue industry has grown significantly over the last five years, providing EVANZ with the opportunity to recognise excellence within the industry.

"The awards will not only recognize and reward the success of venues but will also acknowledge the contribution of individuals in great leadership, operational management success and identifying the stars of the future.

"EVANZ has over 90 member venues including theatres, event centres, stadia and convention centres and a further 30 associate members.

"The growth in the industry has seen many venues both large and small rise to the challenge; becoming innovative, focusing on customer satisfaction, stakeholder engagement and ensuring their facilities deliver sustainable benefits to their end-user populations.

"The industry has also seen a number of great leaders emerge who are leading their teams and managing their facility and resources beyond expectations.

"EVANZ felt it was important to acknowledge the impact that both venues and individuals are making to the industry and together celebrate success, whilst providing a mechanism for others to strive to excellence."

The Ticket Direct Supreme Venue Award and Optimo Software Supreme Person of the Year Award will be voted for by members at the Awards Dinner on Monday 2nd December.

Overall, there are eight award categories:

Ticketmaster - Large Venue of the Year (5,000+ seats)

Ticketmaster - Medium Venue of the Year (1,001 to 4,999 seats)

Small Venue of the Year (1 to 1,000 seats)

Ticketek - Venue Executive of the Year

Carlton Party Hire - Operational Manager of the Year

Rising Star Award

Tompkins Wake - Excellence in Customer Service

I-Ticket - Excellence in Innovation

Nominations are now open and close on 15th November 2013.

Judging will be done by a panel of industry and executive members as a blind scoring process.

Finalists will be announced on 29th November with the winners announced at the 2013 Conference; EVANZ Awards Dinner at the stunning Auckland Art Gallery on 2nd December 2013.
