EOI opens for advisory committee to oversee integration of museums into Borough of Queenscliffe’s Strategic Framework
The Borough of Queenscliffe Council has acknowledged the significant contribution of the Borough’s museums to its heritage, arts, culture, community and economic development.
At the Ordinary Meeting of Council in March 2025, Council resolved to recognise the Borough of Queenscliffe’s museums and their collections as key social and economic assets.
The Borough of Queenscliffe is Australia's last remaining borough and the smallest local government area in the state of Victoria -located in the Barwon South West region of Victoria.
Council resolved to establish an advisory committee to oversee the integration of museums into the Borough’s Strategic Framework including the 2025 – 2029 Council Plan.
The advisory committee membership will include representatives from the museums and other heritage-based organisations in the Borough.
The committee will draw membership from residents and ratepayers with expertise or interest in museums, tourism, heritage, and economic development. Applications for this advisory group will close 12pm on 9th May 2025.
Candidates for the advisory committee will be selected through an Expression of Interest (EOI)
The primary purpose of the advisory committee will be to prepare a museum destination strategy
This will involve:
Researching and understanding the role of contemporary museums
Understanding the broader economic development context of the Borough
Determining the value proposition of the museums
Developing a model for collaboration between the museums
Preparing an implementation plan for the museum destination strategy
Defining the role of Council
Making recommendations to Council
It is anticipated that the group will be stood up in July 2025 following the formal appointment of members, and meet monthly for approximately twelve months.
