efi Sports Medicine Rebrands as Total Gym and launches New Product Line
efi Sports Medicine; one of the world’ leading manufacturers of functional and bodyweight resistance training equipment for fitness, athletic training and rehabilitation professionals; has been rebranded as Total Gym.
The change sees the business assume the name of its flagship Total Gym incline trainer – a globally recognised brand for over 35 years.
The company also announced a newly-enhanced line of Total Gym incline trainer equipment, which will debut in Australia and New Zealand at the upcoming Australian Fitness Expo.
The San Diego-based company’s flagship Total Gym incline trainer, the industry’s first functional training and conditioning machine, is used in 15,000 physical therapy clinics, athletic training facilities, hospitals, universities, professional sports teams and health clubs worldwide. Developed in 1974, the Total Gym incline trainer got its start in rehabilitation, where physical therapists quickly realized the benefits of partial bodyweight training on a calibrated incline. Total Gym has a 14-year relationship with American Telecast Products, LLC, which brought Total Gym incline trainer to the consumer market with a television infomercial featuring Chuck Norris and Christie Brinkley, now the longest running broadcast infomercial in history with over four million units sold.
In 2003, Total Gym made its foray into commercial fitness with the GRAVITYSystem®, a staple personal training, Pilates and group fitness program in over 1,500 commercial facilities with 5,000 GRAVITY instructors around the world.
For the first time in seven years, Total Gym has unveiled three new Total Gym incline trainers for commercial and home use:
Total Gym Sport, a new addition to the product line, features 20 calibrated levels of incline, sleek aluminum rails and a larger glideboard with enhanced cushioning.
An upgraded, award-winning Total Gym GTS®. By popular demand, GTS now features more incline levels, aluminum rails for quieter gliding and most exciting, a new adjustable glideboard allowing the user to sit parallel to the floor.
A redesigned Total Gym PowerTower®. The motorized unit now includes automatic rail locks for improved stability while performing plyometrics and an adjustable glideboard instantly adapts the equipment to promote optimal spine positioning for any user.
Over six million workouts are performed on Total Gym incline trainer in commercial facilities each year with unprecedented results. To remain at the forefront of innovation and continue to grow its customer base, Total Gym has redesigned its current incline trainer product line for improved function and usability with a new modern look.
As Total Gym President and Chief Executive Tom Campanaro explains “when I created the first Total Gym incline trainer, my dream was to have one of the units in every home, every business and available to every person.
“37 years later we are on that path with operations in 23 countries, our infomercial success and the continued adoption of our products in commercial fitness and rehabilitation facilities around the world. We are eager to go forward branded with the Total Gym name and launch an exciting new product line.”
The New Look of Total Gym
The Total Gym incline trainer uniquely allows for over 250 multi-planar exercises on one machine and is safe for users of every age and fitness level. Total Gym customers have come to rely on the incline trainer for functional rehabilitation, strength, sport-specific training, injury prevention and overall conditioning.
Total Gym’s rebrand will be supported by a fresh “You”-themed advertising campaign, featuring real users and personal stories from Total Gym customers, and the introduction of the latest Total Gym products.
Total Gym Executive Vice President Randy Bergstedt adds “we have been leading the global trend toward bodyweight and functional training for three decades (and) with the introduction of these three new incline trainers, we have improved the look and the performance of our signature equipment with unparalleled consumer brand recognition.”
As the South Pacific Distributor for Total Gym, Highest Quality Health & Fitness (HQH) sees the new Total Gym models as an incredible and very exciting upgrade.
HQH Chief Executive Greg Doherty (pictured), who launched the original Total Gym Commercial product line in Australia and New Zealand in 2004, explains “they haven’t just improved the models, they have gone back to the very beginning and redesigned the equipment with fresh eyes and with better knowledge of how they need to look, feel and function for the best performance. I truly believe this new product line is the future of fitness and establishes Total Gyms innovation for a product which will become an industry standard of excellence.”
HQH will be displaying the new Total Gym equipment range at the Australian Fitness Expo from 15th to 17th April 2011.
