Eden Park partners with TEG Live to present Mandela My Life: The Official Exhibition

Eden Park is partnering with TEG Live to host an exhibition dedicated to the legendary Nelson Mandela in April 2019. The exhibition, Mandela My Life: The Official Exhibition, opens on 13th April at Eden Park stadium, where in 1981 flour bombs were dropped in protest at the Apartheid regime and the ongoing imprisonment of the future South African president.

When the red flares descended onto Eden Park back in 1981 to a packed stadium, it cemented a piece of history, in Kingsland. Eden Park now holds a continual link with what is commonly referred to as the ‘apartheid test’ and the world events that followed. This significant event is just part of the 116-year story that forms the stadium’s history books.

Chief Executive Nick Sautner says “Eden Park is a community asset and our team is committed to greater utilisation of the stadium and its facilities for the benefit of the local and wider community.

“We are certain a wide array of individuals, young and old, will love Mandela My Life: The Official Exhibition and we can’t wait to share it with our members, partners, sponsors, local schools, community groups, Government, Auckland Council and friends of the Park.

“I was fortunate enough to meet Nelson Mandela at Colonial Stadium in 2000 and remember his ongoing message that ‘education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world’.”

The exhibition, expertly curated by a team of Museums Victoria staff headed by iEC Exhibitions’ Samantha Heywood will feature over 200 original artefacts, documents, personal items and artworks from The Nelson Mandela Foundation and Nelson Mandela’s private collection. This is the most comprehensive collection ever to be shown outside of South Africa.

The exhibition will arrive directly from its inaugural event in Melbourne and will run from Saturday 13th April to Sunday 4th August before continuing on its five-year worldwide tour.

Eden Park are extending an offer to their partners to become sponsors of the event. Benefits include preferential purchasing rights, an exclusive evening for clients to attend, event branding and public acknowledgement across PR opportunities where possible. Your brand can also secure an evening at the exhibition outside of public hours.
