Eden Park expects well-behaved crowd at Boxing Day cricket
Eden Park is expecting a large, well-behaved crowd for this year's Boxing Day 20/20 match-up of the Blackcaps and Pakistan.
Eden Park Trust Chief Executive David Kennedy said arrangements for the day included a range of measures to ensure the smooth running of the event and a great experience for the 17,000 spectators expected on the day.
Family zones and alcohol free zones will be in operation around the Park. In addition, there will be increased promotion and strong enforcement of the liquor bans in the streets surrounding Eden Park, a strong security team in place and a âno toleranceâ approach to drunken or unruly behaviour by fans.
Kennedy explains "it promises to be a great cricket match up and we want people to enjoy themselves safely and with respect for the players, fellow patrons and the neighbours of Eden Park.
âEden Park Trust is working closely with Auckland Council, Auckland Transport and the New Zealand Police to ensure the smooth running of the day for the enjoyment of everyone.?
The Parkâs responsible host policies will include the widespread availability and very visible presence of non-alcoholic drink options and serving of reduced alcohol beer.
Kennedy added "patrons will not be permitted to bring alcohol into the Ground and any intoxicated people will be excluded from the ground.?
Traffic and parking restrictions apply around the ground and the Eden Park Trust and Auckland Council have booked extensive advertising in print and on radio to keep patrons informed in terms of transport options and expectations of respectful sporting behaviour.
"Weâre looking forward to hosting a large and well-behaved crowd at this great cricketing occasion and will strive to deliver a great day out for all Aucklanders and visitors,? Kennedy concluded.
