Eco-friendly Banyan Tree resort to open in Singapore’s Mandai wildlife precinct
Luxury hotel and resort chain, Banyan Tree Holdings is to open a new eco-friendly development at Mandai in Singapore.
Mandai is a nature-based tourism area encompassing Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and River Safari wherein an ambitious rejuvenation project is set to see the relocation of Jurong Bird Park and the creation of a new Rainforest Park.
Guests at the new Banyan Tree resort will have all these offering on their doorstep.
The resort will be developed by Mandai Park Holdings and operated by Banyan Tree following eco-friendly and sustainable guidelines.
Promising an ‘immersive stay close to nature’’, the new development will include 400 rooms with the option of staying in elevated cabins or treehouses. Guests will have easy access to five wildlife parks, nature-themed indoor attractions and public green spaces.
Guests will also be able to go on guided nature walks, native wildlife spotting tours and even recycling workshops.
The 4.6 hectare site earmarked for the Banyan Tree resort is at the eastern end of the Mandai precinct.
It is understood that a 15 metre-wide strip of land along the edge of the Upper Seletar Reservoir will provide a buffer zone for flora and fauna.
Mandai Holdings intends to appoint a designer for the project by 2018. Construction is expected to start in 2020 and will take two-and-a-half years.
