DTA Contractors awarded tender for Darwin’s Liberty Square Revitalisation
A $3.8 million dollar contract has been awarded to Darwin based industry specialist DTA Contractors, to deliver the construction of Darwin's Liberty Square Revitalisation.
DTA Contractors manages all aspects of the construction process from the design phase through to development and execution.
The Liberty Square revitalisation forms part of the Territory Government’s historic Darwin City Deal, delivered in partnership with the Australian Government and the City of Darwin.
The revitalised Liberty Square will create a safe, immersing and pedestrian friendly State Square, with dedicated and accessible parking options to the Supreme Court.
Works are anticipated to commence during August 2023 and are expected to be completed early 2024.
This project proceeds the next major stage of the Civic and State Square Masterplan, which has already seen the following works;
completion of the State Square underground car park and Native Garden;
demolition of the former Chan building to create the Chan Lawns;
redevelopment of the former 90 Bay Parliamentary Carpark to create a green landscape area; and
construction of the Northern Territory Art Gallery which is currently underway.
The flythrough vision of the project showcases the enhanced design of Liberty Square and provides a visual reality of how the area will tie into the wider Civic and State Square Precinct.
NT Minister for Infrastructure, Planning & Logistics, Eva Lawler notes “The Liberty Square revitalisation project is a vital part of the wider Civic and State Square masterplan and is a spectacular representation of Darwin’s potential.
“The entire redevelopment will create greater opportunities for new and existing local businesses to flourish, whilst generating a strong pipeline of work throughout the design and construction process.
“The Darwin City deal is an amazing example of all three levels of government working together for the benefit of Territorians”.
