Digital amusement park combines playtime and learning
Described as a "digital amusement park", Singapore-based creative future park Mosh! has opened at Sentosa Island.
The digital media playground uses the latest multimedia technology to give children the chance to flex their creative muscles and create their own imaginary worlds.
With five different thematic stations, including land, air and sea, visitors can create their own designs and interact with them.
Mosh! is based on an "edutainment” concept that combines education and entertainment to help children learn better.
Award-winning Japanese creative studios and companies also helped to create this S$2.5 million (US$1.78 million) digital entertainment facility. The venue can hold around 200 to 250 visitors.
Announcing the opening of the attraction, Mosh! spokesperson stated that it "employs advanced gesture recognition and motion design, coupled with multi-touch detection and projection mapping capabilities to create an immersive virtual experience which is real-time, responsive and reactive."
Hitomi Komuro, Director of Creative Future Park, the Singapore-based parent company leading the project said that Mosh! focuses on a "play-to-learn" experience by combining education and entertainment.
Komuro stated "through this new creative future space, we want children, and even adults, to gain confidence in their own creativity, and to share this creativity with others in a fun-loving environment.”
Singapore is currently seeing a boom in edutainment, with aspirational Singapore parents always keen to advance their children's educational skills.
Last year, an indoor park that includes interactive reading classes featuring popular South Korean animated character Pororo opened while Sentosa Island will also welcome a KidZania edutainment facility in the coming months.
