Deniliquin’s aquatic facility set for return to community management
Following a competitive tendering process for the operation and management of the Deniliquin Swim Centre and Hydrotherapy Pool, Edward River Council unanimously resolved to award the three-year contract to Deniliquin Aquatic Community Group Inc.
The decision, made at Council's meeting on 19th August, will see the management of the facility return to the community group which last held the contract from 2013 to 2022.
Stating that his pleasure that the volunteer-run incorporated association had the capacity to secure the contract, Edward River Mayor, Ashley Hall stated "Deniliquin Aquatic Community Group demonstrates the power of strong community backing, a commitment to reinvesting in local facilities, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality aquatic management.
"It's an incorporated association with community at heart, but also a highly capable and professional pool manager."
Mayor Hall noted that the group has proven their commitment to developing a positive swimming culture in the region, adding "they have continued to conduct swimming lessons including this year's Town Swim, which was very popular with 140 children participating in learn to swim lessons and many volunteer swimming teachers engaged.
"We appreciate the dedication and years of service the Deniliquin Aquatic Community Group has given to our local pool. Their work has been foundational in making this facility a valued part of our community, and Council is looking forward to partnering with them over the next three years."
The Council will work with Deniliquin Aquatic Community Group to ensure a smooth transition to the new contract of management, which commences on 1st October 2025.
