Darwin Fringe Festival showcases creativity of local artists

The Darwin Fringe Festival, held from 12th to 21st July will showcase the creativity of some of the Territory’s best, and emerging artists, with performances ranging from art, theatre, music and comedy.

The Darwin Fringe Festival provides a platform for local artists to perform in a professional setting with more than 70% of acts being local.

NTMEC Chief Executive Suzana Bishop advises “The Darwin Fringe Festival has cemented itself as a community arts festival that provides a platform for local artists to hone their craft.

“Supporting the festival boosts the local arts sector and the tourism and hospitality industries as people head out to venues across the city to see Territory talent.”

Darwin Fringe Festival Director Hannah Illingworth adds “Darwin Fringe really allows you to be transformed with something in the program for everybody.

“There’s so much talent in the NT and such a rich tapestry of narratives, it feels special to bring so much of that together in a way that the community can connect with it.”

The 10-day community arts festival with bite, will feature 74 events with 145 individual performances, shows and experiences across 15 venues. There’s something for all tastes and budgets with tickets averaging $20 and some events free.

The Northern Territory Government supports the Darwin Fringe Festival through the Event Funding Program, which is administered by Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC).
