Cultural and knowledge centre opens in Bankstown
The combined Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre and Bryan Brown Theatre has opened in Western Sydney.
The new community venue, constructed on the site of the Bankstown Town Hall, includes a library, exhibition spaces, multi-function rooms, a cafe and a 300 seat theatre named after renowned actor and one of Bankstown's favourite sons Bryan Brown.
The Bryan Brown Theatre, which features state of the art audio visual and presentation facilities, also includes function rooms that can be used by community groups and local businesses for activities and conferences.
The Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre also features a brand new café, outdoors reading area for visitors to enjoy and a light wall feature covering the history of the site where the new centre is now located.
Another feature of the Centre is a green wall which consists of more than 4,000 living plants
The recent opening of the facility was attended by more than 250 community leaders who gathered for a special performance by local poetry slammers Aamon Sayed and Eimann Al Ubudy, Talent Advancement Program students Laura Cuddy and Andrew Boustani and Australia’s Got Talent winner Mark Vincent.
Bryan Brown Theatre, accompanied by his wife and fellow actor Rachel Ward was master of ceremonies for the event.
The facility is managed by Venue Management Services.
