COVID causes Bell Shakespeare to reschedule upcoming production in new Sydney theatre space
Bell Shakespeare has advised that with multiple cast members isolating or recovering from Covid, it would be rescheduling the upcoming production of ‘In A Nutshell’ from 22nd – 24th April to 4th – 7th August 2022.
‘In A Nutshell’ was to be the first performance in the company’s new theatre space at Pier 2/3 at Walsh Bay Arts Precinct.
Bell Shakespeare Artistic Director Peter Evans notes “We have made the difficult decision to postpone our upcoming season of In A Nutshell, the special evening of Shakespeare I have been working on to celebrate our new studio theatre, The Neilson Nutshell.
“As you know, In A Nutshell was scheduled to be performed by the ensemble cast of Hamlet. We have been creating our show during the day while performing Hamlet at night. Or, attempting to!
“Unfortunately, we have had multiple cast members isolating or recovering from Covid during this period. While we have managed to keep Hamlet playing, we have simply been unable to rehearse In A Nutshell. We will not be beaten but must admit to being… curtailed.
“This is not a decision that we have made lightly, and I am grateful for everyone’s patience and understanding in these unusual circumstances.
“I do hope our audiences will be able to join us in August, in our beautiful new space, for a wonderful celebration of Shakespeare.”
Casting will be announced closer to the date and tickets will be transferred for all ticket holders.
