Construction to commence on $6.5 million Carseldine sporting precinct

Contracts have been awarded and work will soon begin on a new $6.5 million sport and recreation precinct at the Carseldine Urban Village.

The facilities - which will include three football fields, two tennis courts, a half basketball court, cricket pitch and new practice cages, exercise equipment, and children’s playgrounds - will also include LED flood lights, new toilet and change room amenities, BBQs, shaded seating and over 120 new carparks.

BMD Constructions has successfully landed their bid for this great community project, and construction is expected to get underway within weeks, with the new sporting facilities to open for the community to enjoy before June 2019.

Being developed as part of Carseldine Urban Village in Brisbane's northern suburbs, the precinct will accommodate a variety of recreational uses and will promote an active lifestyle in the community.

Announcing the contract, Queensland Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning Cameron Dick also advised that smart technology will also be a significant inclusion in the innovative facilities, stating “technologies including eSwitch which will provide clubs and users with the ability to turn on and off sports lights from their mobile phone through to smart rubbish bins that have solar powered compaction, holding up to eight times more waste than traditional bins.

“We envisage the four-hectare precinct becoming an integral part of the Carseldine’s community fabric, providing recreation and social opportunities across a range of ages and sports.”
