Conference to explore best practice in cultural tourism in the Middle East
With cultural and tourism authorities in the Arabian Gulf and Middle East region looking to develop cultural tourism, the second annual Cultural Tourism Middle East conference is to present the latest developments and strategies that are boosting tourism in the region through culture, heritage, arts and festivals.
The preservation of culture and heritage is high on the agenda for cultural and tourism authorities in the region with billions of dollars currently invested in a series of projects to develop new world-class cultural attractions.
After a successful conference last year which was attended by high-level international and regional decision makers and influencers from the region and beyond, the conference will gather again high-level officials from the tourism, cultural development and antiquities, heritage and arts, cultural activities, and architectural heritage community to showcase their latest developments and share ideas and strategies to protect, preserve and promote their unique culture and heritage.
Hosted in partnership with the Architectural Heritage Society and supported by Sharjah Museums Department, the conference is being held from 31st October to 2nd November at Dubai’s Meydan Hotel.
The conference will feature keynote addresses from Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, Dubai Opera, Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage Development Authority, Sharjah Museum Department, and Ministry of Antiquities, Cairo.
UNESCO representatives will also share learnings on the integrity principles and criteria selection to becoming a world-class heritage site while international experts from Italy and England will explain the promotion of cultural heritage to increase tourism flows and enhance overall revenue.
