Collective Leisure's David Burns wins 2024 Business for Good Game Changer Award 2024
David Burns, Chief Executive of Collective Leisure, has been honoured with the prestigious Social Traders NSW & ACT Business for Good Game Changer Award 2024.
The accolade, presented at the recent National Game Changer Awards, celebrates trailblazers who drive impactful change in the social enterprise sector, recognising those at the forefront of the #Business4Good initiative.
Social Traders, the Australian certifier of social enterprises, is dedicated to empowering businesses that prioritise people and the planet. Their mission is to cultivate a thriving social enterprise sector and make social procurement a standard practice, contributing to a fairer and more equitable Australia.
Commenting on the awards Social Traders, Chief Executive Tara Anderson stated “its inspiring to spend time recognising the social enterprise pioneers proving every day that doing good and doing business are not mutually exclusive.
“Congratulations to David on winning the Business for Good Game Changer Award - recognising his outstanding commitment and dedication to the business for good movement.
Social enterprises blend the commercial acumen of the corporate sector with the impact acumen of the charity sector. They’re the demonstration model for the future economy. And it’s great to see organisations buying from social enterprises and embedding ESG into their business practices - they are all trailblazers.”
A pioneer in reducing health inequity, driven by its purpose of ‘enabling well-being without boundaries’, Collective Leisure celebrated its fifth anniversary as of last month.
Collective Leisure co-creates initiatives for underserved communities, offering culturally responsive physical activity and well-being programs. As a Work Integration Social Enterprise (WISE), the organisation provides training and employment opportunities for people from refugee backgrounds in the sport and recreation sector.
In addition to leading Collective Leisure, Burns (pictured above) actively supports the social enterprise sector as a Non-Executive Board Member at the Social Enterprise Council of NSW & ACT (SECNA).
