cityfitness secures two-year Waikato Chiefs sponsorship

cityfitness has been confirmed as a sponsor of the Waikato Chiefs Investec Super Rugby team.

The fitness chain is a relative newcomer to the Waikato market with their Te Rapa Straight club having opened in March last year. Linking with the Chiefs is part of a cityfitness strategy to increase its profile in the area.

The sponsorship arrangement will enable Chiefs players and cheerleaders to utilise both cityfitness gym and its subsidiary hot yoga and Pilate's studio, Abundance, which is located inside the club.

Welcoming the sponsorship Chiefs Commercial and Marketing Manager Sean Austin says "the Chiefs success is built on training to be the best they can be.

"We are therefore thrilled to be entering into a partnership with cityfitness, to provide our players access to their fantastic facility to give us an extra edge in helping physically prepare for the toughest rugby competition in the world."

cityfitness Managing Director Dominic Rogerson added "we're thrilled to be involved with the Chiefs and happy that they have chosen our services and facilities to further enhance their training routines.

"Over the past year, we've introduced a number of new initiatives to many of our clubs including 'Training Zones' which are a separate 'user pays' area of the gym incorporating three new fitness programmes; TRX Suspension Training, Boxmaster and CrossFit. As well as this we've developed and implemented time efficient 'membership inclusive' workout programmes including citycircuit and R30 two 30 minute, intense, results based workout alternatives."

News of the sponsorship deal comes just a few months after the family owned fitness chain was recognised at the recent 2012 New Zealand Fitness Awards. The cityfitness group took out the 'FitnessWorks Innovation' award, and REPs Award - for contribution to professionalism and standards, and cityfitness PT Manager Joe Laiman took out the Mentor of the Year award.

cityfitness were also finalists in the Large Club and Group Fitness - Pre-Choreography categories.

cityfitness is a New Zealand based, family owned company beginning with one club in Porirua in 2000 and has steadily grown to 21 clubs nationwide over the last 12 years.

The cityfitness group is one of the country's most progressive health and fitness businesses, building a reputation on their high level of customer service, facilities, equipment and member support. cityfitness clubs offer a wide range of amenities, including: personal training, group fitness, indoor cycling and 'state of the art' strength and cardio equipment.
