The City of Whittlesea has flagged its offerings during Men’s Health Week which is currently underway until 16th June – sharing opportunities for men to focus on their health and wellbeing.

The City of Whittlesea spotlights simple tips to help men stay healthy:

  • Get Active and Stay Connected

  • Physical activity is not only good for your body but also for your mental health.

  • Leisure Centres: Consider joining a local leisure centre for access to various exercise facilities and programs. Check out the Explore Whittlesea website for information on Leisure centres, bike or walking trails and more.

Help a Friend
If you know a friend who's having a tough time, check in on them. Listen to them and encourage them to talk to someone if they need help. Visit the Australian Men's Health Forum website for more tips on supporting a mate.

Take Small Steps for Better Health
Staying healthy doesn't have to be hard. Here are some easy ways to get started:

  • Get moving: Exercise helps your body and mind. Try a 30-minute walk, do an online workout, go on a bike ride, do a spot of gardening, or play sports with your kids.

  • Walk and explore the City of Whittlesea: check out your local walking maps to explore new routes

  • Programs for over 50s: Join the City of Whittlesea’s LEAP program for low-cost exercise options tailored for older adults Visit Whittlesea.vic.gov.au/leap for more information and session times.  https://www.whittlesea.vic.gov.au/leap

  • Get more sleep. Sleep can affect our health and wellbeing.

Make that Appointment
Use this week as a reminder to schedule a check-up with your doctor. Whether it's a mole that needs looking at or a persistent elbow injury, regular medical appointments are key to catching potential health issues early.
