City of Adelaide announces new Cultural Partnerships
The City of Adelaide has announced their new Cultural Strategic Partnerships, offering free and affordable events across the City and North Adelaide for 20,000 people.
Through the Cultural Strategic Partnerships (CSPs), the City of Adelaide works with eligible entities to deliver fun and lively arts and cultural experiences that foster a vibrant, connected, and inclusive community.
Among the projects included to be delivered through 2024 and 2025 are
Tutti Arts Incorporated – The Heart Beat Club
A series of learning disabled and neurodiverse-led community club nights across Adelaide's West EndJacob Boehme (Kaurna/Narungga) – Palti Marri, Songs of the East
A new intercultural music collaboration and free community performance with Kaurna and Afghan musicians celebrating the history of communities in Adelaide’s South-WestWriters SA – Context Festival 2024/2025
A free writers festival at the City Libraries and Minor Works Community Centre featuring a Sister City cultural exchangeKaya Blum – Adelaide Jazz Festival 2025
An expansion of the Adelaide’s Jazz Festival in 2025 with six days of accessible music programming across city venues, spaces, and streets for the community.
Lord Mayor Jane Lomax-Smith said Council was pleased to back an initiative that helps activate venues, spaces and the Park Lands all year round and noted “These events support reconciliation and inclusivity and boost our reputation for arts and cultural experiences.
“But most importantly they bring vitality and fun to our city. We’re really pleased with the quality and diversity of these projects and partnerships, so I encourage everyone to get along to these exciting events and performances over the next year.”
CSPs Facts & Figures
The total funding pool was $291,000, with 17 proposals received totalling $731,989.
76% of proposals received were from City of Adelaide based organisations, businesses, and residents, demonstrating the focus of this funding program is to benefit local communities.
29% of applications were from new applicants
58% of applications were from the music community looking to partner with the City of Adelaide to amplify Adelaide's UNESCO City of Music designation.
CoA’s investment of $291,000 from the 2023/24 annual business plan and budget supports the delivery of eight projects and represents 27% of the total cost of these projects, valued at $1,059,213. Each Council dollar invested leverages three dollars of additional investment.
