CircusWA and Fremantle Press secure new creative hub

Two Fremantle arts organisations - CircusWA and the Fremantle Press - have secured a new home, with support from the Western Australian Government.

The Fremantle Press is a not-for-profit independent book publisher that has been embedded in the Australian cultural landscape for nearly 50 years, launching the careers of WA's greatest storytellers.

CircusWA is a training and performance organisation operating for over 30 years, offering shows and programs that empower young people, nurture emerging artists, and wow audiences across the state.

The SEC Substation located at 10 Parry Street in central Fremantle will soon house both groups through a $500,000 investment by the WA Government.

CircusWA and Fremantle Press have deep roots in Fremantle, with long-standing ties to the city's creative community.

As important organisations of WA's creative industry, having a permanent home in a creative hotspot like Fremantle reinforces the State Government's Creative WA vision to grow and sustain thriving culture, arts and creative industries in the State.

Relocation to the SEC Substation will allow both organisations to expand their creative programs, collaborate with local artists, and increase public engagement through workshops, performances, and community events.

This investment reflects the WA Government's ongoing support for local arts infrastructure, ensuring artists and cultural organisations have access to the spaces they need to thrive.

WA Creative Industries Minister Simone McGurk noted  "Creative WA is all about building a sustainable, connected and thriving creative sector.

"Securing a permanent home for CircusWA and Fremantle Press delivers on that vision right in the heart of Fremantle.

"This investment ensures that two of our iconic arts organisations have a secure and vibrant home for the future.

"Fremantle Press and CircusWA have shaped Western Australia's cultural identity for decades - their new home will ensure they continue to inspire and engage future generations."
