Christchurch’s Linwood Pool secures Gold award
Te Pou Toetoe Linwood Pool in Christchurch’s eastern suburbs has impressed the judges in this year’s New Zealand Commercial Project Awards, securing the gold award in the tourism and leisure category.
Te Pou Toetoe: Linwood Pool was built for Christchurch City Council by construction company Apollo Projects and opened to the public in October 2021
The $22 million complex features a multi-use 25-metre lane pool, a deep-water manu/splash pool, a family spa pool, learn-to-swim pool, and a pool for toddlers. Community meeting rooms and a kitchen connect to an outdoor gathering area with picnic tables, tennis and multi-use courts, cycle stands and parking.
Brent Smith, Council Acting Head of Vertical Capital Delivery enthused “we’re thrilled the top quality work that Apollo Projects did in building this new aquatic facility for the Linwood community has been recognised in this way.
“Apollo Projects completed construction two months ahead of schedule. The Linwood community campaigned for a long time for a pool and now they have a wonderful facility that both young and old can enjoy. It is a real asset for the local community.”
