Christchurch City Council seeks placements for recreation staff
With a number of Christchurch City Council recreation and sport facilities closed due to damage sustained in the 22nd February earthquake, and not expected to re-open for some time, the Council wants to create opportunities for its under utilised staff.
This could involve casual, fixed term (employment offered for a fixed period of time for a specific project or purpose) or permanent (part time or full time ongoing employment).
Affected positions include:
ï¾ Lifeguards
ï¾ Fitness Instructors
ï¾ Group Fitness Instructors
ï¾ Specialist Tutors
ï¾ Learn to Swim Tutors
ï¾ Administration Support Staff
ï¾ Team Leaders/Coordinators for Aquatics, Operations, Programmes & Activities, Health & Fitness, Stadia, Customer Services, Recreation & Group Fitness
ï¾ Facilities Maintenance
ï¾ Swimming Coaches
ï¾ Southern Centre Staff
The Council is asking leisure industry employers to consider 'ring-fencing' your employment opportunities and to consider providing Christchurch City Council Recreation and Sport staff first option on any vacancies you may have.
While you wouldn't be compelled to offer them roles, it would give them the opportunity to apply and be considered prior to advertising wider.
