Chris Cochrane named as Kardinia Park Stadium Trust Chief Executive

Experienced venue manager Chris Cochrane has been named as the first Chief Executive of the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust.

With the Victorian Government having last year announced that it would elevate Kardinia Park to trust status, the appointment comes after the unveiling of the inaugural Kardinia Park Stadium Trust, to be chaired by former Victorian Premier and avid Cats fan, Steve Bracks.

Cochrane (pictured below) is a former General Manager of Brisbane's ANZ Stadium and The Gabba, who subsequently became Chief Executive of Curves fitness franchises operations in Queensland. More recently he has been a Chief Executive of US Consulting Firm, Pure Wealth Consulting.

Announcing the appointment, a Victorian Government spokesperson advised “Mr Cochrane has managed some of Australia’s best known stadiums, and boasts a distinguished business career too – with a proven track record of leading first-class venues, boosting profits, managing construction projects and securing major events.

Other members of the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust are: Rebecca Casson, Gillian Costa, Simon Guthrie, Professor Jane den Hollander, Michael Malouf and Elizabeth Mears

Current upgrading of Geelong’s Simonds Stadium will lift the capacity of the ground to 36,000. It will ensure Geelong can host more of the major events that deliver jobs and growth for the local economy.

Welcoming his appointment, Cochrane stated “Simonds Stadium is regional Australia’s best venue, and Kardinia Park is Geelong’s sporting heart and soul. I look forward to the challenge of helping this great venue grow.”
