Chapel Street inclusive festival to showcase art, music and food

A $450,000 investment from the Victorian Government will support the 2023 return of the inclusive, family-friendly Chapel Street Festival in partnership with the Chapel Street Precinct Association. It has been 20 years since the last street festival was held.

The street festival will celebrate the unique character of the precinct, with areas showcasing fashion, art, music and food.

Funding will help to cover the costs of running such a large-scale event, including equipment hire, health and safety officers, permits and fees, and traffic management.

This builds on the recent funding for a festival to be held on High Street, Northcote with planning already well underway.

Businesses or groups planning to hold an event or festival can access Business Victoria’s new Event Planning Tool that connects them with all the permits and resources needed to plan a safe and successful festival at business.vic.gov.au.

Chapel Street Precinct Association General Manager Chrissie Maus commented “after more than 20 years, we are pleased to announce the long-awaited return of the Chapel Street Festival.”

“Consultation will take place in the next 12 months to ensure this provides a significant economic return for our iconic Precinct.”
